UI-UX Design
Introduction
User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design program combines visual design and information design techniques to create informative and engaging digital experiences for the user. This program establishes a foundation in visual design and its effective application in design for virtual interactive
products. The course will introduce students to the process of user research and user experience design, information design, data visualisation; all of which will be applied to design of web pages, mobile applications and interactive digital products.
Year 1
Quarter 01
Introduction to Visual Design
This quarter will introduce the student to elements and principles of design and establish the rudiments of
visual vocabulary. Further there is an analysis of branding process and the role visual communication plays in propagating brand values. The student is also introduced to information design fundamentals.
Quarter 03
Data Visualisation
In this quarter, the student will be introduced to the fundamentals of data science with a special emphasis on Data visualisation. The quarter culminates with processing raw data into easily readable and informative real-time dashboards.
Quarter 02
Web Design
This quarter is primarily about web design process and will introduce the student to user research and the
process of defining user experience. Web design is a complex application of visual design and information design. The student will also be introduced to simple scripting of web pages.
Quarter 04
Mobile Application Design
In this quarter, the student will be introduced to the process of mobile app design, the challenges of
adapting information design to small screens, and industry best practices.
